well, finally duke university has made amends with the three lacrosse players falsely accused of rape by a district attorney driven by his own political ambitions.
now, it might just be because a certain torts professor at my law school wore a duke lacrosse shirt weekly - or it might be because i have a few friends at duke - or it might be because the whole situation is somewhat stomach.churning for those of us entering the legal profession, but i still am nauseated by the fact that three lives were ruined because of a patently false claim and an overly-ambitious lawyer. of course, now there will be suit after suit pressed by the trio of young men, and i'm fine with that. at least our justice system allows for a balance - a sort of "mess with me falsely and i will ruin you" credo would fit nicely above the doors of most courtrooms, don't you think?

And BAM, you may have found another great reason to be a lawyer. To make sure someone stands up against those who would abuse their influence and position for personal gain. "true evil is when good men do nothing" - Brian.......quoting someone else....from something he can't remember.
That shit happens to people all the time. Three rich white guys get caught up in the net of an over zealous prosecutor and you start pontificating about justice. Get real. Where are the blog posts for all the poor people that aren't exonerated, but sent to jail?
check another blog. i never claimed to cover the entire world of injustice - just stories that happen to catch my eye, when i'm perusing CNN or what-have-you. my apologies if my outrage was not politically correct enough, but i feel that what i wrote accurately describes that particular situation. if you've advice regarding what i write, please let me know privately.
